OSHKOSH, Wis. 1 of the pilots from the US Airways "splashdown" flight in the Hudson River in New York will attend an Experimental Aircraft Association's banquet next month.
Pilot Jeff Skiles will speak at the annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet, which commemorates the 106th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, N.C.
Skiles started with US Airways in 1986.

U.S. aerospace giant Boeing broke ground Friday for the second assembly plant for its new 787 Dreamliner aircraft scheduled for its first test flight by the end of the year.
The facility at North Charleston, South Carolina also will have the capability to support the testing and delivery of airplanes, officials said.
Jim Albaugh, president and chief executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said Friday's launch "marks the beginning of an expansion plan that will strengthen the 787 program."

The world's largest airliner, an Air France A380, touched down in New York on Friday after completing the superjumbo jet's first Atlantic crossing from Europe to the United States.
The Airbus plane, carrying 538 passengers, left Paris earlier in the day and landed at 1:07 p.m. at J.F. Kennedy Airport, several minutes ahead of schedule, under crisp blue skies.
Two fire engines met the plane with a watery salute from their hosepipes as it taxied to its gate.

A problem with the FAA system that collects airlines' flight plans caused widespread flight cancellations and delays nationwide Thursday.
It was the second time in 15 months that a glitch in the flight plan system caused delays.
FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said she doesn't know how many flights are being affected or when the problem will be resolved.

TSA officials advise passengers to come prepared to the airport checkpoints because that will make the security screening process easier for themselves and for other passengers.
Airport Director of Security Steve Woods says you should, have your ID and boarding pass out and ready.

The Federal Aviation Administration is blaming an equipment outage this week for delaying 819 flights.
The agency told employees in a briefing memo Friday that air travelers experienced a total of 2,121 delays the previous day due to the equipment outage as well as thunderstorms and other poor weather in the Northeast.
The memo said that the more than 800 flight delays attributable to the equipment outage included 273 in Atlanta.

The signal about a fallen hang-glider has been received at 112 emergency phone number at about 10.30 am.

Last week was an emotional one for me with the impressive dedication of a new veterans' memorial in the park plus the tragic death of Lt. Brett Miller of East Troy in a Navy training accident near Pensacola, Flor.
Veterans Day observances and Memorial Day services in the park always rekindle memories as I personally knew most of the war dead from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Many of the WWII casualties, although older than I, were already my high school athletic heroes before they went to war.
